Bite Notes: yes, admit it; you're surprised, aren't you ? Exxon Mobil has no doubts about global warming and what's causing it.
And perhaps it becomes more surprising: BP agrees. And so does Chevron. Does any fossil fuel company actually deny global warming?
Of course what people and companies say, and what they do, can be two different things.
Update: In this statement An Exxon Mobile spokesperson eloborates on their position on climate change -- including "support for a revenue-neutral carbon tax" -- and tries to reconcile that with their continued funding of institutions that promote climate denial.
Update 1-31-12: Even the Saudi Oil Minister Ali Al-Naimi is getting on board: "Saudi Oil Minister Calls Global Warming 'Humanity's Most Pressing Concern.'"

These are great. I've been looking for quotes that acknowledge the risk of greenhouse gas emissions from contrarian organizations like oil companies. Great to have them all in one place. Thanks much for submitting this one.

Larry -- for more "unusual suspects" (business, military, religious, conservative) supporting climate science and action, click on "Search by Type/unusual suspects" at bottom of left sidebar!
I think this is so important we're thinking of adding an "Unusual suspects" tab to our main menu, along with bites, humor and stories.....
